A ‘pantless prowler’ has been lurking around North Carolina yards, security videos show
A man with no pants seen on security footage squatting behind someone’s grill has stirred concern in one North Carolina neighborhood, police said — and it keeps happening.
The Clayton Police Department is asking for help identifying a “sometimes half-naked man” caught lurking in yards and driveways several nights in a row, according to a Facebook post Monday.
“He is seen walking directly across driveways near front doors,” police said in the post. “In other footage he is clearly not wearing shorts and can be seen crouching down near a backyard grill.”
Police said the man is in his 20s or 30s wearing a baseball hat, a blue sweatshirt or jacket, light blue shorts, white socks and black shoes.
He was last seen at 11 p.m. Saturday on Hutson Lane in the Riverwood Athletic Club neighborhood.
Police aren’t sure what the man is doing, but residents had their suspicions.
“Perhaps someone having an affair?” one person commented. “Husband came home and he had to run out without his shorts.”
Someone else thought he might be on drugs: “This guy is tripping out. Shrooms or LSD.”
Others had a more innocent explanation.
“Is he sleep walking?”
At least one person had a more far-fetched theory.
“That’s one of them aliens from Area 51,” he said on the Facebook post.
