Buy a duck, get a doughnut: Here’s how you can treat yourself at Duck Donuts

A doughnut chain is offering a unique way to score free treats on Monday.

Duck Donuts is handing over a cinnamon sugar doughnut with each purchase of a rubber duck toy, according to a news release.

The deal celebrates National Rubber Ducky Day, held each year on Jan. 13. The day has its roots on the children’s show “Sesame Street,” where the character Ernie gave his beloved bath toy a birthday, according to the company.

Duck Donuts says the small rubber ducks cost $1.85 at stores in Cary, Durham and Raleigh.

The shops are known for theirwarm sugary creations, including a maple bacon flavored doughnut. The chain started in North Carolina’s Outer Banks and has locations across the country.
