Planning to move? This North Carolina metro area is ranked among best for millennials
One North Carolina region is one of the most attractive places in the country for millennials, a new study says.
The Raleigh metro area ranks No. 3 in a list of best locations for younger adults who want to move, according to the commercial real estate blog CommercialCafé.
The website came up with its list after analyzing population and job trends for people ages 25 to 34, results released earlier this month show.
Among the top-ranked metro areas, Raleigh had the highest share of working millennials with bachelor’s degrees, results show.
“North Carolina State University, Duke University, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill serve as a major anchor in this region and attract an educated workforce,” Kris Smith, Raleigh president for the do-it-yourself moving company U-Haul, said in a recent news release.
Earlier this month, the company named the Raleigh-Durham market the nation’s top one for growth in 2019.
In the CommercialCafé study, the area also got high scores for recent population boosts and low unemployment rates for millennials, according to the top 10 list.
But compared to many other metro areas in the rankings, Raleigh had a lower percentage of millennials in its overall population, findings show.
The results come after recent studies from WalletHub named Raleigh the best city in North Carolina for job seekers and among the safest in the Tar Heel State, The News & Observer reported.
To come up with its rankings, CommercialCafé analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data for metro areas where more than 1 million people live.
Overall, the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood metro area in Colorado was named the top spot for millennials interested in relocating, results show.
