Child still missing after NC police arrest 2 in a car connected to the disappearance
A child is still missing after North Carolina police arrested two people officials say are connected to a Tennessee Amber Alert
The 15-month-old, Evelyn Boswell, has been missing from Sullivan County for nearly two months, McClatchy News reported Thursday. Officials say she hasn’t been seen since December but wasn’t reported missing until last week.
Officials issued an Amber Alert on Wednesday after determining she could be in “imminent danger of physical harm or death,” Jeff Cassidy, Sullivan County Sheriff, said in a Friday press conference broadcast live by WCYB.
On Friday, investigators were searching for a 2007 BMW that people with information on Evelyn may have been traveling in, according to tweets from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The car was found in Wilkes County, North Carolina, later that day, TBI says, and the two were questioned.
The BMW was reported stolen, and Angela Boswell and William McCloud were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, WZTV reports.
But Evelyn remains missing, officials say.
She is about 2 feet tall, has blond hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a pink tracksuit, pink shoes and a pink bow in her hair, according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators have received more than 300 tips about Evelyn but none have produced “any credible sightings” regarding her whereabouts, the release says.
The fact she was not immediately reported missing and the conflicting statements investigators have received have made the search for Evelyn more difficult, the release says.
Anyone with information should call 1-800-TBI-FIND, according to the release.
