Search underway for 2 after plane crash near North Carolina coast
A search is underway for two people who were on a plane that crashed near the North Carolina coast, officials say.
The Cessna aircraft was flying Monday night when it went off radar, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. It was last detected “southeast of Bogue Inlet,” and the search focuses on an area near Emerald Isle, officials said Tuesday morning in a news release.
To look for people who were on board, crews are searching the air and water, according to the release.
Emerald Isle is on the shore and roughly 85 miles northeast of Wilmington.
