World War II boat house near the Outer Banks is waiting for a buyer in North Carolina
At the end of a pier in North Carolina’s intracoastal waterway sits a boat house once used by the U.S. Navy during World War II — and it’s for sale.
The one bedroom is more of a bunk room, and it’s only about 850 square feet.
But according to Long & Foster Real Estate, which is listing the home in Elizabeth City, it’s “a significant find” with “a part of history” attached.
The house at 214 Small Drive — about an hour from the beaches of the Outer Banks — was used for crash boats and crews belonging to the Navy during the second World War, the real estate listing states.
It was built in 1943, according to “The Old House Life with Michelle Bowers,” a website that promotes the sale and conservation of historic homes.
Inside, it’s got an eat-in kitchen, living room, bunk room and full bathroom. There’s also covered boat slips outside and a “wrap-around deck great for entertaining,” the listing states.
Long & Foster Real Estate suggests potential buyers “live in the boathouse while building your dream home.”
The property is about two acres off a wooded road with “remote sandy beaches,” according to the Zillow listing.
It’s been listed on the website for 1,509 days with no takers.
