Two killed after gunfire erupts during home invasion, North Carolina officials say
UPDATE: Cumberland County Sheriff Ennis Wright said homicide detectives identified the people killed as 19-year-old Marquez Tyteon Melvin and a 16-year-old from Fayetteville, whose name was not publicly released. Two people were killed during a home invasion Wednesday morning in North Carolina, officials said.
Cumberland County Sheriff Ennis Wright said on social media that deputies were called just after 5 a.m. to a home on Charlie Drive in Fayetteville about a break-in and shooting. Investigators said a man had entered the home and shot “four male victims.”
Two of them died inside the home, Wright said.
One is in critical condition at a local hospital and another has non-life threatening injuries, according to Wright.
Wright said the sheriff office’s homicide unit is on the scene investigating and that more information will be released “at the appropriate time.”

Fayetteville is about 60 miles from Raleigh.
