24-year-old killed when motorcycle malfunctions in apartment parking lot, NC cops say

A 24-year-old died after his motorcycle crashed into cars at an apartment complex in North Carolina, police said.

Elijah Freeman had been working on the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle in the parking lot of an apartment complex at Mayodan and Tatum Drives in Fayetteville on Tuesday, Nov. 16, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.

He was driving the motorcycle in the parking lot after working on it when the bike “appeared to have some type of malfunction,” witnesses told police.

Freeman then crashed into a parked Toyota and Kia in the lot, police said. Both cars were unoccupied at the time.

He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

No other information about the crash had been released as of Wednesday, Nov. 17.

Fayetteville is about 65 miles south of Raleigh.
