Two Myrtle Beach residents killed in NC crash during winter storm, Highway Patrol says
Two people from Myrtle Beach were killed in a car accident in North Carolina Sunday as winter weather created challenging road conditions, North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCHP) said.
The crash happened on Interstate 95 near mile marker 132 in Nash County just before 9:30 a.m., according to the Highway Patrol. A blue Honda CRV was moving southbound on the highway when it drove off the road, hitting several trees in the median.
The driver, Latron K. Williams, and passenger, Katie Jo Brainard Janta, both died following the crash, according to NCHP. Both were 41 and lived in Myrtle Beach.
The car was driving too fast for the road conditions, causing the crash, according to NCHP. When the crash happened, Nash County saw a mix of winter precipitation.
