‘A rising star.’ High school senior dies in fiery North Carolina crash, officials say
A high school senior known as a “well-rounded student” was killed in a fiery North Carolina crash, officials said.
Ethan Lane Creason, 17, was driving in Forsyth County when he reportedly veered off the road and hit a tree on Tuesday, March 29. The crash caused the car to burst into flames, according to N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Creason died at the scene, troopers said in a news release.
The teen was the only person in the car at the time of the crash, which was reported at about 8:30 a.m. on Hastings Road. The area is near Oscar Lane and roughly 10 miles southeast of Winston-Salem.
Creason, who lived nearby in Kernersville, is remembered as a Glenn High School student who participated in music and sports.
“Ethan was an all-around fantastic student,” Principal LeDuan Pratt said in a statement from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. “He was all things, Glenn. He has played baseball, and most recently was on the lacrosse team. He also sang in some of our choral groups on campus and was an integral part of our choral program.”
The school district said counseling would be available.
“We are so saddened to learn of his passing and our thoughts go out to his family, classmates, and all those who knew him,” Pratt said. “He was a well-rounded student whose loss will greatly impact our students and staff.”
Four Dollar Jack’s, a music venue in Clemmons, expressed condolences to the teen’s family, saying his dad was one of its performers.
“Ethan was a rising star like his father … a bright, friendly, and talented young man who will be sorely missed,” the business wrote on its Facebook page.
