A North Carolina man scored a jackpot prize — and now the wife’s dream vacation could become reality.

“She’s always wished that she could go to Hawaii, so I figure we can do it now,” winner Raymond Hatch Jr. told the N.C. Education Lottery.

The High Point resident and his wife, Brenda, are planning the out-of-state trip after trying their luck on the online version of the Cash 5 lottery game. The couple spent $1 on the Quick Pick option, which randomly selected the numbers for their ticket.

“Every one of the numbers in the Quick Pick are actually lucky numbers that I use,” Brenda Hatch said in a news release. “I guess I really got some great mojo going on.”

It turns out, the ticket matched enough numbers in the June 12 drawing to be worth $337,920. In addition to helping to make the couple’s “dream trip” possible, the win fulfilled Brenda Hatch’s longtime prediction.

“Honest to goodness I’ve been telling my husband for months now that I’m going to win the lottery,” she told the N.C. Education Lottery. “We are just elated right now.”

The couple claimed the prize together and kept $239,960 after taxes, according to officials.

“This just makes our retirement that much better,” said his wife, who initially had trouble believing the jackpot win was real.

It’s not the first time a North Carolina lottery player has considered going on an adventure after a big win. In March, a dad hoped to take his daughter on a Disney World trip after pocketing a Powerball prize, McClatchy News reported.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
