Rescuers had to free a girl who was trapped inside a gun safe at an outdoor retailer, according to a North Carolina fire department.

The girl’s sister accidentally locked her inside the safe at a Sportsman’s Warehouse in Wilmington on July 1, according to a spokesperson for the Wilmington Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the store and decided to cut the hinges off of the door and remove it to get the girl out, according to a post on the agency’s Facebook page.

Video shared by the fire department shows sparks flying as a firefighter drills into the safe.

The girl and her sister had been at the store with adults who were shopping there, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson did not know the girl’s age or how long she had been trapped inside the safe.

She was not injured, according to the fire department.

Gun safes are used for securely storing multiple guns and ammunition.
