Taco Bell worker shot after drive-thru dispute over customer’s change, NC cops say
A disgruntled 67-year-old Taco Bell customer accused of shooting an employee after arguing about getting the correct change in the drive-thru line has been arrested, police announced Monday.
Doll Andrew McLendon pulled into the east Charlotte Taco Bell at 8812 Albemarle Road at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
“Witness statements indicate that after ordering food, the suspect became aggressive in the drive-thru when he believed he had been given an incorrect amount of change,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officials said in a news release.
He left the drive-thru and went inside the restaurant — where he became more aggressive, pulled out a gun and fired shots, according to CMPD.
One employee remains hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds and life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police arrested McLendon at his home and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property, police said in an update Monday.
