DoorDash driver saves pregnant cat. Now her kittens have homes — but she needs one
A DoorDash driver rescued a pregnant cat — then all four of her kittens were adopted in North Carolina.
But the “sweet” mama cat still waits for a home of her own.
“Galaxy is still available and sadly has not had any interest as of yet,” Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA) told McClatchy News in a Sept. 19 email. “We rescued her about 6 months ago.“
Galaxy arrived at the shelter after a person delivering food for DoorDash found her pregnant and roaming around. The worker brought her to CARA, and no one claimed her before she gave birth to her kittens in March, the shelter wrote in its email and Facebook posts.
The shelter in Sanford, a roughly 40-mile drive southwest from Raleigh, shared photos online of the four adorable babies. Like their mom, all got space-themed names: Mercury, Nebula, Neptune and Saturn.
Early on, Galaxy was described as a “VERY PROTECTIVE mother.” She also has become known for being an attention lover and a “really good snuggle buddy” with an “endearing personality.”
“I am currently in a foster home relaxing now that all of my mom duties are done,” the shelter said in an online adoption profile written from Galaxy’s perspective. “I am the last one left out of my little family and I would love to find a place to settle down.”
The roughly 3-year-old cat is in need of a new owner at a time when adoptions of adult felines have been low for CARA, due to unknown reasons. More details about the shelter’s adoption process can be found at cara-nc.org.
“She is low maintenance in a lot of ways,” the animal organization wrote. “One of her favorite things to do is play with your feet when you are walking and then sit on them!”
