Amazon Prime customers can now save money at NC gas stations. Here’s how it works
Amazon Prime members can now save money on fuel at more than 7,000 gas stations across the United States, including in North Carolina.
The deal, which is included with a Prime membership, allows customers to save 10 cents per gallon at Bp, Amoco and Ampm locations. (Bp owns Amoco and Ampm.)
This could save drivers around $70 on average each year, Amazon said in a press release. That’s about half the price of an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $139 per year.
A discount on fuel is the latest initiative Amazon has launched to help save people money.
Earlier this year, the Seattle-based company slashed prices on thousands of grocery items from Amazon Fresh, available to Prime members. It also debuted a new private-label brand, Amazon Saver, which the company described as a “no-frills brand that will help grocery budgets go further.”
Unlike the price cuts on groceries through Amazon Fresh, Amazon Saver’s products may be shopped by anyone, regardless of Prime membership status.
How to sign up for fuel savings through Amazon Prime
Prime members should visit amazon.com/fuelsavings to activate the offer. Customers will also need to sign up for a free earnify account with Bp.
By activating the offer on Amazon Prime, Amazon will connect the Prime and earnify accounts.
The earnify app may be used to find the nearest participating Bp, Amoco or Ampm gas station. Customers can take advantage of the deal at more than 500 gas stations in North Carolina, including throughout the Triangle and in/near Charlotte, an Amazon public relations specialist told The News & Observer via email.
Then, customers can begin redeeming savings at the gas pump by inputting their phone number or linked payment method. They could also redeem savings through the earnify app, by selecting the gas station location and pump.
With an earnify account, customers can earn points on purchases in store or at the pump. These points can transfer to rewards such as fuel savings, in-store purchases or special promotional offers.
How much can Prime members can save on gas?
Customers will save 10 cents per gallon on every gallon of gas they purchase.
Does the deal apply to gas of all octane levels?
Yes. Prime members who activate the fuel savings will save on whichever grade of gas they buy, whether it’s regular unleaded, premium or somewhere in between.
The savings are also applied to diesel purchases.
What about savings for electric vehicles?
Amazon has plans to launch a savings program that would benefit drivers of electric vehicles.
The initiative, a collaboration with Bp’s EV charging business, Bp Pulse, will help customers save money while charging their cars.
Additional details about the savings program have not yet been shared, but it is expected to go into effect in 2025.
