North Carolina is well represented in this year’s Super Bowl showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

There are at least seven athletes with North Carolina connections playing in the big game, according to Census data. Five players (and two coaches) were born in the Tar Heel state, and others were college stars.

(By the way — if you still don’t know how to watch, we’ve got you covered.)

Super Bowl players from North Carolina

For the Philadelphia Eagles:

Eagles coach Jeremiah Washburn is from Shelby. He was a standout player at Shelby High School and plans to keep his North Carolina roots close at the Super Bowl.

Other coaches, Joe Kasper and Eric Dickerson, spent three years coaching Duke University football.

For the Kansas City Chiefs:

Offensive assistant Kevin Saxton is from Monroe and played for Appalachian State University.

Do Super Bowl players/coaches have to buy tickets?

Chiefs and Eagles players and coaches each get two free tickets to the Super Bowl, NJ.com reported.

If players want to buy additional tickets, they can get a limited number at face value. The NFL does not release the price for face value tickets anymore, but the last time the league did, the lowest price was $950, according to Yahoo Sports in 2018.

For even more tickets, players will have to check out resale sites like everyone else.

How much are Super Bowl tickets?

Face value tickets are scarcely available, but they start at $950 and range up to $3,250 a ticket to sit in the 500 and 600 level, The Athletic reported. Club seats in the 100 level are priced at $7,500 per ticket.

On StubHub, non-suite resale tickets start around $2,700, as of Friday, Feb. 7.
