Powerball player wins $150,000 in North Carolina. Where was the ticket sold?
A Powerball player just missed a $139 million jackpot — but still scored a big win in North Carolina.
The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the April 21 drawing. Since the person spent an extra dollar on the Power Play option, their $50,000 prize tripled to $150,000, results show.
The winning numbers: white balls 4-33-45-46-51, with red Powerball 25.
So, where was the lucky ticket sold? The winner bought it online in Wake Forest, a Raleigh suburb, the N.C. Education Lottery told McClatchy News via email.
The player is set to get richer after their $3 ticket matched four white balls and one red ball. The ticket was one number from hitting the jackpot, which stood at an estimated $139 million the night of the drawing, according to the Powerball website.
Lottery officials shared details about the win early April 22, before the lucky ticket holder would have been able to claim their prize. In North Carolina, Powerball winners have about six months to cash in, rules show.
