Winning $392,000 lottery ticket expires soon — but no one has claimed NC prize
A North Carolina lottery player hit the jackpot — but hasn’t come forward yet.
Now, the winner has days to claim the $392,000 prize before their ticket expires in early May, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.
“Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double-check any you have to see if you hold the winning ticket,” Mark Michalko, lottery CEO, wrote in an April 28 news release. “We hope that whoever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim the prize soon so we can celebrate the big win.”
The player bought a Carolina Cash 5 ticket that matched all the numbers picked in the Nov. 5 drawing, making it worth $392,256. It was sold at a Circle K convenience store in Fayetteville, a roughly 65-mile drive south from Raleigh.
The winning numbers: 8-11-15-20-25.
In North Carolina, drawing game winners have about six months to claim their prizes. But now, time is running out for the Fayetteville winner, who hadn’t cashed in on their prize as of about 11 a.m. on April 28, lottery officials wrote on their website and in an email to McClatchy News.
The lucky ticket holder must collect their winnings at the lottery’s headquarters in Raleigh, rules show. The deadline to cash in is 5 p.m. Monday, May 5.
