A loving 18-year-old dog and her best friend need a new home — together.

“Prissy isn’t just a sweetheart — she’s also part of a dynamic duo,” a North Carolina animal shelter wrote Sept. 5 in a Facebook post. “She is bonded with her best friend (named Sassy), and these two adorable ladies must be adopted together. Twice the love, twice the snuggles, and double the joy!”

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of the Triad said it hopes Prissy and Sassy aren’t separated. Though the Greensboro-based shelter didn’t reveal when the Chihuahua mixes ended up in its care, the two had experienced a rough patch.

“They were in the same household until their owner died,” Casey Crossan, executive director of the SPCA, told McClatchy News via email. “The family brought them to a local county shelter when nobody else in the family could care for them and we pulled them from that shelter.”

Both dogs are now in a foster home, where they have gotten along well with other animals. Sassy is described as an 8-year-old pup who packs lots of love into her small frame.

“With her gentle spirit and loving nature, Sassy is the perfect cuddle companion, always happy to be by your side,” the SPCA wrote in a past Facebook post. “She’s a pretty girl with the most adorable expressions, and once she warms up to you, she’ll shower you with affection.”

Prissy also has become known for her small size and big heart. The senior dog — who “carries a lifetime of devotion, cuddles, and tail wags” — is waiting for an owner to spoil her as she gets older, according to the shelter.

“One thing is certain — Prissy deserves a warm and loving home where she and her best friend can enjoy the comfort and care they have always dreamed of,” the SPCA wrote. “If you are looking for a pair of precious pups to complete your family, Prissy and her sidekick are ready to fill your home with love!”

As of Sept. 9, the shelter’s website still listed both dogs as being available for adoption. Details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at triadspca.org.
