The player bought a Carolina Cash 5 ticket that matched all the numbers picked in the Sept. 16 drawing, making it worth $130,000, results show.
The winning numbers: 8-20-24-31-37.
The lucky ticket beat 1-in-962,598 odds to win big. It was sold at a Han-Dee Hugo’s convenience store in Clinton, a roughly 65-mile drive southeast from Raleigh, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on its website and on the social media platform X.
Cash 5 is a rolling jackpot game that offers tickets starting at $1. To win the top prize, a person’s ticket must match all five numbers picked in a drawing, rules show.
As of about 1:45 p.m. Sept. 17, the lucky ticket holder hadn’t come forward yet, a lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News via email. In North Carolina, the winners of drawing games have roughly six months to claim their prizes.
