Powerball player just misses $148 million jackpot — but still wins big in NC
A Powerball ticket sold in North Carolina won $100,000, just missing the $148 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers, the Power Play and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Sept. 27, the North Carolina Education Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at Bob’s Pit Stop in Hendersonville, which is about a 25-mile drive south from Asheville, the North Carolina Education Lottery said in an email to McClatchy News.
The winning numbers were 10, 16, 32, 61 and 66 with a Powerball of 4. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
Powerball jackpot resets
Nobody won the jackpot, which rises to an estimated $160 million, with a cash value of about $74.2 million, for the next drawing Monday, Sept. 29, the national Powerball site said.
Nearly 580,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when players in Missouri and Texas split the $1.787 billion grand prize.
