NC man wins $200,000 Powerball prize. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A North Carolina man netted a $200,000 windfall playing Powerball.
Neil Warren of Rougemont matched four white ball numbers and the Powerball in the Nov. 15 drawing to win the six-figure prize, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
The winning numbers were 6-7-12-47-53 and red Powerball 21, according to the lottery game’s website. The Power Play multiplier was 4x.
Warren bought the $2 ticket online and spent an extra $1 on the multiplier option, quadrupling his $50,000 prize, officials said. The Orange County man claimed his winnings at lottery headquarters Tuesday, Dec. 2, taking home $143,501 after taxes.
Warren was one of five $200,000 winners in the Nov. 15 drawing, results show. A ticket sold in Puerto Rico won a $2 million prize, and there were three $1 million winners in Arizona and California (2).
More than 726,000 other Powerball tickets sold across the U.S. also won prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million in that drawing, according to the Powerball website.
How much is the Powerball jackpot?
The Powerball jackpot ballooned to an estimated $820 million with an estimated cash value of $378.2 million on Friday, Dec. 5.
The next drawing is Saturday, Dec. 6, marking the “eighth largest (jackpot) in Powerball history” and the second biggest so far this year, Powerball officials said.
The game’s jackpot was last won Sept. 6 when two players in Texas and Missouri matched all six numbers and split a record-breaking $1.787 billion prize.
Winners in North Carolina have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes and are encouraged to check and sign the back of their ticket, lottery officials said.
