This is the food most people in SC are making for the Super Bowl, Google says

You might think it would be pimento cheese or shrimp and grits or hash and rice, but none of those distinct South Carolina dishes reached the top spot for the food most people in the Palmetto State are munching for Super Bowl Sunday, according to Google.

Compiling the dishes and recipes most searched for the Super Bowl, Google mapped out the entrees, sides, appetizers, dips and desserts people in all 50 states will be devouring when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 2.

This year, South Carolinians are bringing chili to the party. The bean, tomato and beef medley is the top searched dish for serving during the Super Bowl, Google Trends showed.

The Palmetto State is one of five states where chili is king of the food table (six if you count white chicken chili, a Minnesota favorite, according to Google).

South Carolina’s neighbor, Georgia, also appreciates a good cup of the hearty western-America inspired dish. North Carolina is more a pigs-in-a-blanket kind of state, while Alabama prefers Rotel dip. Tennessee is soothing their barely-missed-Super Bowl wounds with Swedish meatballs, the tech company says.

California, home of the 49ers, is putting artichoke dip on the table, and Missouri and Kansas, both states claiming part of the Kansas City Chiefs, are getting down on buffalo chicken dip and seven layer dip.

The most popular dish for the Super Bowl by Googles account is seven layer dip. The dish tops the list for six states followed by different kinds of artichoke dip, which is the most popular in five states.

The map also shows some oddities like “pizza dip” in Washington, “chicken club ranch roll-ups” for Hawaii, “taco soup” for Louisiana and “Paleo salmon cakes” for Alaska.

So get out those spoons and hot sauce bottles, South Carolina, and have yourself a time.
