64-year-old in motorized wheelchair dies after SUV hits him, SC coroner says

A man in a motorized wheelchair died after an SUV hit him in South Carolina, officials said.

The 64-year-old was riding his wheelchair along a road when a driver crashed into him Monday, Feb. 7, according to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and S.C. Highway Patrol.

Officials said the crash happened at about 7 a.m. on Prince Perry Road near Easley. The area is roughly 10 miles west of Greenville.

The 64-year-old — identified as William Wright of Easley — died at the scene.

The SUV driver wasn’t injured, and officials in a news release didn’t share possible charges related to the crash.
