When a South Carolina woman told her grandma she had scored the jackpot in the lottery, she didn’t think it was real at first.

“My grandma didn’t believe it until she saw the check,” the woman who won told lottery officials.

The check was for $30,000, the top prize in the Wild Win! Game, where players have a 1 in 528,000 odds of winning the jackpot.

Now, the winner, who was not publicly identified, plans to share her winnings with her grandparents “who have always supported her,” she told lottery officials.

The woman bought her lucky $2 ticket at the Reid Street Market in Charleston, according to lottery officials. Her grandfather, who she told lottery officials also plays the lottery, watched as she scratched off the top prize.

“Wow!” he exclaimed after seeing the win, lottery officials said.

After the woman shares her winnings with her grandparents, she plans to use the remaining money toward her education.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
