The driver of an SUV was injured when she ran into the back of a tractor-trailer truck carrying a mobile home on Business U.S. 70 at Walnut Drive on Monday morning, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Megan Elizabeth Vaneijk of Raleigh was traveling eastbound when her Lexus SUV hit the trailer, which was stopped and partially in the roadway to make a left turn onto Walnut Drive between Garner and Clayton, according to the Highway Patrol.

Vaneijk, 33, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

The driver of the truck, Thomas Deberry Kelly, 29, of Smithfield, was treated at the scene and released without injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.

The accident happened about 7:45 a.m. and forced authorities to close the eastbound lanes of the highway.
