State troopers are looking for two people who they say fled the scene of two crashes on U.S. 64 early Friday, the second of which killed a man who had been involved in the first one.
Daniel George Fisher, 24, of Wendell died at a hospital, the State Highway Patrol said.
According to troopers, Fisher’s car and another one were involved in a crash about 1:30 a.m. on eastbound U.S. 64 near Wendell Falls Parkway.
That car, which later left the scene, drove onto the shoulder, troopers said. Fisher’s car was disabled in a travel lane, and he and two others were trying to move it to the shoulder.

The driver of a third car saw the car on the shoulder, swerved left and hit Fisher’s car.
The third driver stopped, but the car that had been involved with Fisher’s car in the first wreck drove away, troopers said.
They were told a man and a woman were in the car that left.
The car was believed to be a Dodge, troopers said, but they did not know a model or color Friday.
