Driver killed when truck and bus collide near Streets at Southpoint in Durham

A truck driver was killed and four others injured when a box truck collided with a GoTriangle bus Sunday afternoon near The Streets at Southpoint mall in Durham, police reported Monday.
The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Renaissance Parkway and Rolando Drive, the Durham Police Department stated in a news release.
A large box truck, going east on Renaissance Parkway, made a left turn onto Rolando Drive in the path of a westbound GoTriangle Transit bus, the release stated. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The truck driver, Jacob Kipserem, 28, of Buies Creek, was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, police stated.
The bus driver and three passengers on the bus were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police stated.
Alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident, and no charges were filed Sunday, according to police. The collision remains under investigation.
The road was shut down for more than four hours.
