Aviation Parkway closed after SUV crashes into Lake Crabtree Monday, Cary police say

Cary police are investigating a crash that sent an SUV into Lake Crabtree on Monday morning.

Just before 10:45 a.m., 35-year-old Joshua Delaine was traveling southbound on Aviation Parkway when he lost control of his SUV, according to the Cary Police Department.

Delaine’s car hit a guardrail, tumbled down an embankment and ran into a power line pole before ending up with its rear wheels in the water.

Delaine, of Fayetteville, was not injured in the crash and was able to safely get out of the vehicle on his own, police said in a news release.

Aviation Parkway is currently closed between the entrance of Lake Crabtree Park and Dominion Drive, police said. They don’t know when the road will reopen.

Police said Duke Energy has been contacted to repair the power line.
