A sedan crashed in downtown Raleigh early Saturday morning, killing the driver, the Raleigh Police Department said.

Officers responded to the 300 block of West Martin Street at 3:13 a.m., police said. They found a Mercedes-Benz S550 that had hit a building and a tree at a high speed. The driver, Michael Graham, 36, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said Graham was not wearing a seatbelt, though he was still inside the car when officers found him.

Graham’s car was travelling west on Martin Street from the Fayetteville Street area when it struck a parked vehicle at 310 W. Martin St., according to police’s preliminary investigation. The S550 then veered onto the sidewalk and crashed into a building at 320 W. Martin St.
