Snow is coming to the Triangle for a third-straight weekend. Here’s what to expect.
The Triangle should wake to an inch of snow Saturday, maybe even two, but the storm’s quick-hit nature and wind chill dipping into the teens will limit wintertime fun.
The third-straight weekend of snowy weather should start as rain and turn to flakes around 10 p.m. Friday, said Steve Stewart, ABC11 meteorologist.
All but the earliest risers Saturday should miss the action, as the limited moisture from this storm will cut off the flakes before dawn.
“A pretty start to the day,” Stewart said, “but just nasty.”
Though high temperatures will barely poke above freezing Saturday, the sunshine should melt away the whiteness before much of the weekend gets going.
So don’t bother with the sled.
“I wouldn’t,” Stewart said. “There’s going to be some hills that have enough for sledding, but with a wind chill at 13, do you really want to do that?”
Raleigh saw snow dumped 3 to 5 inches deep last Saturday, and a wintry mix made for an icy MLK holiday weekend one week before.
But this one comes and goes in a flash.
“It’s not going to be a big deal,” Stewart said.
