  • Wake County closed schools as a teacher workday. Students will make up the day.
  • Several universities, including UNC and NC State, declared suspended operations.

Triangle universities and school districts canceled Monday classes or switched to remote instruction after this weekend’s storm dumped as much as six inches of snow on parts of the region.

The storm brought 2 to 3 inches of snow to Raleigh, 3 to 4 inches in Durham and Chapel Hill and 4 to 6 inches in Smithfield. It could impact classes well into the week.

This will be the second week in a row that classes have been disrupted due to wintry weather. School districts used several days of remote learning last week to avoid having to make up the time.

State law limits K-12 public schools to five days of remote learning each school year. Some districts have used up the five days or only have a couple of remote days left.
