Heat advisory in place for Eastern North Carolina for Friday

A heat advisory was released by the NWS Wilmington NC on Thursday at 1:11 p.m. valid for Friday between noon and 8 p.m. The advisory is for Inland Pender, Inland New Hanover and Inland Brunswick as well as Robeson, Bladen and Columbus counties.
The NWS informs, "Heat index values up to 105 degrees expected."
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," explains the NWS.

To minimize risks during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) advises incorporating frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. If someone experiences heat-related symptoms, promptly relocate them to a cool and shaded spot. In case of an emergency, dial 911.
