UPDATE: The current severe thunderstorm warning for the Piedmont region will be expiring at 3 p.m.

The warning was for Durham, Orange and Person counties.

"The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm," according to the NWS Raleigh NC.

The warning is in effect until 3 p.m.
