At 2:26 a.m. on Friday, the NWS Raleigh NC released an updated heat advisory valid between noon and 9 p.m. The advisory is for Durham, Wake, Johnston, Wilson, Harnett, Wayne, Cumberland and Sampson counties.
The NWS informs, "Heat index values up to 106 degrees expected."
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," says the NWS.
