The May moon
A full moon tugging at the shores tonight will escort the awakening month of May and the renewal of life.
The balladeers of old tell us that it’s time for all living creatures to be aware that we are being swept up in the nets of an upcoming season, entangled in dreams of pleasure and romance. This is a voyage enhanced by the multitudes of early spring flowers, of violets and narcissus, showing us the way, while later buds are opening their golden eyes to gaze upon the bright days.
Sunlight, nature’s smile, pours strength into expanding life and leaf, the basic force so vital for keeping nature’s driving forces underway. The hours of light have grown from last weekend’s average of 13 hours 51 minutes to the present 14 hours and 8 minutes. The allotted solar energy shall continue to increase at a rate of 18 minutes a week, providing fuel for growth and encouraging new life.
An increasing sun that May demonstrates so well represents the profoundness of our world, how the process of sunlight and water, working through little understood magic forces, encourage germination and growth, building leaf, root and seed, all the basic foundations of life.
The full moon of May will melt as the length of days expands in this miraculous, flowering month. One should pause amid the swiftness of change to contemplate with wonder and gratitude this moon that that brings the sun.
