Time to vote in Raleigh, Cary, Durham
All votes count, but the vote that has the greatest impact is the one cast in a local election. Yet such elections are also subject to the lowest turnout, usually around 20 percent in Wake County.
Today is a day to change that. Today is Election Day for municipal elections in Raleigh, Cary and Durham. In the event of runoffs, voters in today’s election will go back to the polls Nov. 3 when other towns and cities will hold their municipal elections.
The News & Observer editorial board did not endorse candidates in the Cary and Durham races. The board did make endorsements in Raleigh.
For Raleigh mayor and City Council, we endorse:
Mayor: Nancy McFarlane
City Council at-large candidates: Russ Stephenson and Mary-Ann Baldwin
District A: Dickie Thompson
District B: John Odom
District C: Eugene Weeks
District D: Kay Crowder
District E: Bonner Gaylord.
