Delight in the long daylight

AP

Now we near the year’s longest days, and as the light lengthens, all life feels stronger.

It braces the spirit to see the sun endure, to hold off the night, to linger amid long shadows in a long twilight. After the solstice, the sun will burn stronger, but the daylight will begin to yield, and the summer at its very start will begin its slow surrender to the fall.

Capture this light at its flood. Take the day in all its fullness, up early with the dawn and in evening be outside to watch the day go reluctantly away and eager to return to stay yet longer. And in the darkness between, the lightning bugs blink like little celebrations of this season of the sun.
