Ann T. Berry: Lapping it up

The Republicans never cease to amaze me and, for once, I don’t mean the Donald.

Consider: Carter “My party right and wrong” Wrenn, commenting in the Sept. 5 N&O on the GOP’s stubborn effort to keep down the black vote by curtailing early-voting hours, says it “wasn’t about discriminating against African-Americans. They just ended up in the middle – because they vote Democrat.” Come again, Carter?

On Aug. 28, when we read the dire news that almost one in five Wake kids now go to schools other than traditional public ones, school “choice” spokesman Darrell “All about mine” Allison told the paper “(P)arents ... do not care what the make and model of the school is. They just want a school that is going to work for their child.” Ever hear of the common good, Darrell?

And on Sept.1, Dallas “One note” Woodhouse, the state GOP honcho, said he’s “always suspect (sic) of the federal government’s involvement in our elections.” Have the feds ever done anything that wasn’t “suspect” in your mind, Dallas?

Not even George Orwell would believe how much Kool-Aid these folks have drunk. I only hope that come November, the abstainers outnumber the imbibers.
