Deborah Brogden: Bathroom hazards
Regarding the Sept. 13 news article “NCAA pulls championship events from North Carolina over HB2”: So HB2 is the gift that just keeps on giving. The GA folks assure us that with HB2, they were prompted by concern for our safety in public bathrooms. Now, after 66 years of use of public bathrooms for women, the only hazard I have ever come across in them is the discovery, too late, that my stall is out of toilet paper. I suspect that the true intent of HB2 was to firmly rein in that renegade city government of Charlotte. Too bad that a memo to them wouldn’t have sufficed. But, if our safety is the motivating issue, would the GA also come up with some substantive gun control laws?
