Jean-Christian Rostagni: Life is good in America

The Aug. 29 letter “Wrong-track Democrats” did not sound right. I am mystified by the diagnostic, “What the Democrats can’t face is that they have been in charge for eight years and the country is in much worse shape now than we were eight years ago.”

Eight years ago the worst recession since the Great Depression began, the result of Georges W. Bush’s tenure among other factors. We were on the brink of bankruptcy, losing an unnecessary war that had justifiably made the world angry against us, and China seemed untamable.

We now enjoy the best economy in the Western world, nearly everybody in Europe admires us, and lately Daesh (Islamic State) seems on the verge of being defeated, thanks to a smart collaboration with key allies.

That “miracle” has a name: Obama, the best president since Eisenhower.

I am sorry that so many here can’t see that we have an undeniably enviable position in the world.

President Hillary Clinton will only improve our advantage, extending this era of prosperity in which she will make sure that the working class finally sees resounding benefits. I am not part of the Clinton campaign staff. I am just a Frenchman enjoying his life in America.
