Laurence Marks: Speed bumps would slow drivers

Regarding the Sept. 10 news article “Six drivers have crashed onto his property. Now he wants solutions.”: Six drivers have crashed onto Carlo Bernarte’s property endangering his family and damaging his home. City and state agencies have declined to install a guardrail and have offered no useful solutions. May I offer one? Speed bumps!

If drivers are ignoring the 45-mph speed limit and 35-mph advisory signs, then get their attention with a few speed bumps on either side of the curve. This is really the environment where they should be used – not in the quiet residential areas where serious accidents and fatalities never happen. And I know a few residential neighborhoods that would be happy to contribute theirs.
