Leon Cooke: More positivity needed

After reading the Sept. 23 column “The best news you don’t know” by Nicholas Kristof, I was very uplifted. After the endless reporting on all the negativity in the news about the presidential election, voter suppression laws, killings of black men, pharmaceutical price gouging and too many others to list, it was refreshing to hear something positive about global poverty and health.

Perhaps if we read and hear more of such positive news, both locally and beyond, we wouldn’t be so negative and divisive about events and people. Let’s hear about more uplifting news here and throughout the world. We need it to keep from being so fatalistic and negative about events in general and people in particular!
