Addison Lamberson: Taxpayers shouldn’t pay for protesters
Regarding the Oct. 5 sports article “Marching band protest gets ECU game off radio station”: I was appalled to see some 15 members of the ECU marching band kneel and not participate in the pregame playing of the national anthem.
While this right may be protected by the First Amendment, it should not be supported by the taxpayers of North Carolina at a public institution. May I suggest that those exhibiting this behavior be charged out-of-state fees and tuition rather in-state. The difference is approximately $8,000 per semester.
The residents and taxpayers of North Carolina deserve better.
