Larry and Berta Hammerstein: Voter registered

We have been registering voters as volunteers as the November election approaches. We were dismayed to read the Oct. 9 letter “Barriers to voting” about a recently naturalized citizen expressing understandable distress at being told by some Wake County individual that she was ineligible as a voter unless she submitted her North Carolina driver’s license and several other documents.

We scurried to confirm from our official voter registration sources what the facts are. It was confirmed for us that the writer is indeed a registered voter and all she needs to do is bring one of those several documents to identify herself when she votes.

That Wake County letter was poor wording at best. We add our congratulations to our new fellow citizen and registered voter.
