Robert Hauver: Respecting anthem, rights
It infuriates me to read and see how our young people are “exercising” their freedom of expression rights. Do these people even know how it came to be that we have that right?
They should be respecting the lives and efforts of many before us that allows us to have these freedoms, yet they don’t. It’s just all about “me.” The standing for our flag and anthem are the way to express our thanks for those rights.
Barry Saunders’ Oct. 6 column “Two different ECU band protests, both worthy of our respect” missed the whole point of why we stand to show respect for this great country.
