Beatrice I. Mannes: Getting family time back
Regarding the Oct. 13 business article “Raleigh mall will wait for Black Friday”: I was so happy to read in your paper that the Triangle Town Center mall will not be open on Thanksgiving Day.
This had been a day for families to come together and enjoy each other while feasting. My family comes together from far and wide, as many do.
Bit by bit, retail has tried to suck the joy out of this holiday. We have never needed one more day to shop, but the family unit surely needs this time together.
I just want to thank the people in charge at the Triangle Town Center mall for this brave decision, and to let them know, that when I do shop, I will make a point to shop with them.
