A.J. Daoud: McCrory’s strong debate

Regarding the Oct. 20 editorial “Cooper bests McCrory”: The Editorial Board must’ve been watching a different gubernatorial debate than the rest of the state.

Gov. Pat McCrory came out confident, presenting a thorough record of accomplishment and a clear vision for the state’s future. Moderator David Crabtree pinned Roy Cooper to the mat during a discussion on taxes, leading to Cooper’s incoherent rambling that hardly resembled an answer to Crabtree’s question on whether or not Cooper would raise taxes.

It was clear that once Cooper ran out of left-wing talking points, he had little substance to go on and a record with even less.

My Democrat friends from every part of our state even acknowledged Cooper’s poor performance. The rest of the state saw a strong McCrory performance.
