Mark Kinlaw: McCrory refuses to take a stand

I’m a lifelong Democrat who voted for Pat McCroy in 2012. I liked him because he was a centrist moderate who focused on the important issues, unlike many of the Republican wack-a-dos in the General Assembly today.

I’m not voting for him this year. It’s not because he supported shifting the tax burden to the middle class. It’s not because he took care of big business and the rich before he started focusing on education. I’m not voting for him because he’s not strong enough to stand his ground and fight for what he believes in.

He lobbied against House Bill 2, yet he signed the bill and has defended it on the national stage.

I understand he’s getting pushed around by the wack-a-dos and is limited in his ability to reign in their craziness. But his unwillingness to stand up to them when he disagrees with them is a deal breaker for me.
