Larry Cobb: Pope a good budget director
Regarding the Oct. 23 editorial “For governor: Roy Cooper”: It is no surprise that you would endorse Roy Cooper despite his long history of ethical violations.
What is surprising is that you would condemn Gov. Pat McCrory for naming Art Pope as his budget director. This is the same Art Pope whom you praised because he stood up to the radical legislative budget proposals and vowed they would not pass. He was the only one with the clout to keep them from passing.
It is very seldom that you have a good word to say for any Republican. It is a shame that you flip-flop on this one.
